About
berlioz
Mid 2022 saw the launch of ‘berlioz’, an alias created by ‘Ted Jasper’ (real name Jasper Attlee) - an outlet specifically for jazz-house songs. Partnering with graphic designer ‘Pat Thomas’ to create his brand, berlioz quickly found a large audience thanks to tightly arranged cool jazz themes mixed with Jasper’s expertise in dance production.
berlioz saw explosive growth in 2023, finding an expansive and loyal fanbase. berlioz paired unreleased music from the ‘jazz is for ordinary people’ EP with archival, film and animation footage to make viral reels and tiktoks, gaining a cult following and tens of millions of views on social media. Upon release, the ‘jazz is for ordinary people’ EP went viral on social media, with tens of thousands of reels/tiktoks being made with the music.
berlioz is described best by blog ‘frenchysaysrelax’, who wrote in early 2023: “if Matisse made house music. When you combine the UK jazz scene with downtempo deep house, you get berlioz. berlioz is the new alias of producer Ted Jasper, and while he has only released 4 songs under his new alter ego, it’s opened a doorway for his dream like, soulful electronica genre to flourish. His clever one liners make listeners unlock core memories they never knew had, and live in fantasy worlds of past lives. These 10 second snippets of escapism and day dreaming quotes perfectly describe the feeling his music gives you, and work as a marketing strategy that has helped his music go viral; and even when you listen to the full track, it still leaves us wanting more”
